Find the best places to go camping in the US.

Going camping is a fun activity for the whole family. Camping helps you escape from the stress and tensions of urban living and helps you commune with nature in peace. If you are planning on camping in the summer, you might need to make campground reservations well in advance. Find out what features the campsite offers and if campfires are allowed. See if there are showers available. Note the activities available in and around the campground so you can be prepared to enjoy your trip to the hilt. Alternately, you can choose to camp in the state parks or national parks. This will mean roughing it out. You might also want to consider the possibility of wild animals trampling around on your campsite at night.

Wherever you are going, you will need to make a checklist of all the things you will need. Some essentials needed while camping include sleeping bags, tents, appropriate clothes and shoes, insect repellant, maps, compass, drinking water, bath tissues, sunscreen, first aid kit, flashlights, extra batteries, a camp stove, matches and fuel. Keeping a few emergency flares handy might be a good idea too since cell phones usually don’t catch signals at most campgrounds. Food that requires minimal cooking is the best. Soups, makings for a sandwich and fruit are very good choices. A cooler will help keep the food fresh. Water and energy drinks will also remain chilled.

Be sure to pack in a few trash bags with your gear, for you cannot litter any of the campgrounds. If you are camping in a park, then you will usually need to carry the trash out when you leave. Be prepared for sudden weather changes. Even in summer keep a couple of sweaters for the nights can get really cool, particularly in areas at a high altitude. A raincoat or a waterproof poncho is also a good idea.
